It is my pleasure to present the 2026 First Semester edition of the iYunivesithi Walter Sisulu Alumni Newsletter. This edition celebrates the achievements of our university, our students, our alumni, and our partners who continue to advance our mission through excellence, innovation, and service.
The first half of 2026 has been marked by significant milestones for iYunivesithi Walter Sisulu. We are proud to have been ranked 4th in South Africa in the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026, reaffirming our commitment to academic excellence, impactful research, sustainability, and community development.
This edition also highlights key institutional achievements, including the launch of our new brand identity, the establishment of the Indigenous Health Systems Research Institute, the opening of the Rural Clinical School, and the remarkable accomplishments of our students, staff, researchers, and alumni.
We are also excited about the upcoming launch of the Graduate and Alumni Tracking and Engagement Portal, which will strengthen our connection with graduates, promote networking and mentorship, and create new opportunities for alumni to contribute to the continued growth of the University.
I thank our students, staff, alumni, Council, Convocation, partners, and stakeholders for their continued support and commitment to the success of iYunivesithi Walter Sisulu. Together, we will continue to build an institution that transforms lives, empowers communities, and shapes the future.
